Far from being just a postcard town Albi and its surrounding towns and villages offer varied activities: Hot air balloon tours above the City and countryside, Gabarres (traditional boats) trips on the river Tarn (departures below the Cathedral), public swimming pool (with indoor and outdoor facilities), two golf courses, tennis courts, horse riding, canoe, 4x4 tracks, hiking and cycling routes, air field, and a lot more.

  • Bastides de l’Albigeois : visit those 13th century fortified villages starting from Cordes-sur-ciel, then Puycelsi, Larroque, Bruniquel and Penne.
  • The Gaillac vineyards : these vineyards have been producing world renowned wines since the roman times.
  • The Tarn Valley : From the Ambialet peninsula the 11th century Roman church towers over Europe’s largest meander.
  • The Black Mountain : Visit the historical sites of Hautpoul and Sorèze Abbey, discover Durfort copper work.
  • Monts de Lacaune : local mountains peaking at 1259m (Pic du Montalet); trout fishing rivers (vallee du Gigou), lake swimming (Laouzas Lake) and enjoy the local charcuterie..
  • Pigeon Towers – almost 1,700 different pigeon towers all different to discover.
